What a delightful (and productive!) Wednesday lunch! Thanks to our team’s resident food expert, our manager, we had the pleasure of visiting Jalppajin Memil (잘빠진메밀) Euljiro Direct Branch. This fantastic spot, located right in front of Euljiro 4-ga Station, Exit 2, offered a refreshingly delicious and cool experience.

Getting There

Our office is located near Myeongdong and Euljiroipgu Station, so we walked about 20 minutes through the underground passage to reach Euljiro 4-ga Station, Exit 2. The underground passage was a blessing, equipped with air conditioning, making it a comfortable and refreshing walk – almost like a mini-workout!

Menu Prices

The prices here felt quite standard, especially considering current inflation. For lunch, they offer a set that includes the main dish and a tasting portion of boiled pork (suyuk) for 11,000 KRW.

Evening Options

They also boast an impressive selection of alcoholic beverages. For evening diners, there’s even an unlimited alcohol option, which would be a fantastic choice for anyone who enjoys a good drink.

The Star of the Show: Makguksu (Buckwheat Noodles)

Both the cold buckwheat noodle soup (Mul-Makguksu) and the spicy mixed buckwheat noodles (Bibim-Makguksu) received rave reviews at our table.

I’m a huge fan of cold noodles, especially Naengmyeon and Makguksu. My absolute favorite spot used to be “Halla Mountain’s First Village” near Seong-eup Folk Village in Jeju Island. Their cold noodles are truly excellent, but I must say, the Naengguksu and Memil noodles at Jalppajin Memil were even more delicious! It was truly a pleasant surprise.

A Delightful Surprise: Yuja Suyuk (Citron Boiled Pork)

Our food-savvy manager ordered the Yuja Suyuk (citron boiled pork) and kindly split a portion with our table. I never imagined that citron and boiled pork would pair so well together – it was unexpectedly delicious! The fragrant zest of the yuzu perfectly complemented the tender, savory pork.

Overall Verdict

I believe Jalppajin Memil Euljiro Direct Branch excels in cleanliness, friendliness, and, most importantly, taste. It truly stands out as a top-tier restaurant in all these aspects.

I’m definitely planning to return in the evening next time to enjoy their suyuk with some Makgeolli or Jeju Memil-ju (buckwheat liquor). What a delightful discovery!
