Today, I’m introducing a gem of a bar that’s perfect for colleagues after work or for travelers looking for a break after exploring Myeong-dong. It’s called ‘Julia’ in Euljiro.

The moment you open the door to ‘Julia,’ it feels like you’ve stepped into another world. The space is filled with a reddish glow that serves as a beautiful accent to the overall dim lighting. Rather than being flashy, the atmosphere is subtle and comfortable, putting your mind at ease instantly. The lovely lamp on each table creates an intimate, private mood, making it a great spot for a quiet chat with colleagues or friends. A great atmosphere must be accompanied by delicious drinks and food. We ordered the Yantai Kaoliang Liquor, famous for its wonderful fragrance. Its subtle, pineapple-like aroma and smooth taste were more than enough to wash away the day’s stress.
We also ordered two dishes to go with our drinks. The first was Guo Bao Rou (a sweet and sour pork dish). The glutinous rice batter was incredibly chewy and delicious, and the balance with the sweet and sour sauce was fantastic.
Our second dish was the Gopchang Mara Hot Pot (spicy mala hot pot with beef intestines). The combination of the fiery mala broth and the rich, savory beef intestines was a winner, offering both a satisfying texture and a deep flavor. It was so good that it could have been a full meal, making it the perfect dish to enjoy with drinks.
